PACKAGING A FULL BIKE FOR TRANSIT

Sending us a Full Bike? No problem.

Our tried and tested courier will deliver you a bike box (including packaging),

and then collect it again when it's ready.

PREPARING YOUR BIKE

FOR TRANSIT

1.

Strip it down.

Remove your pedals, seat post and saddle. Package these and include in the box.

2.

Handlebars.

Loosen the stem to release the handlebars.

Turn the bars carefully, enough to enable them to fit into the box. Package and secure with tape to minimise movement.

3.

Wheels.

Leave your rear wheel in situ if you are able.

Remove the front wheel, package, and position carefully in the box.

4.

Package it up safely.

Make use of all packaging provided, and anything extra you have to fill any voids in the box.

Add additional padding to the contact points, the parts of your bike that come into contact with the box.

DO & DON'T

DO...send us your whole bike. We will be rebuilding and test riding your bike once we're done. We can't do this properly if you haven't included the pedals, seat post, saddle, or wheels.

DO…package the bike up well, especially at contact points where the frame or components might touch the inside of the box during transit.

DO…use lightweight packaging such as crunched up newspaper to fill up the empty space in the box. This will stop your bike moving around.

DO…make sure that the axle is not against your frame, and cushion/pad it to prevent it punching through the box.

DON’T…forget to send anything that would mean we can't rebuild or test ride your bike once we've finished our work.

DON’T…leave your wheels loose to roll around the inside of your box during transit. Secure and pad them as much as you can if removed.

DON’T…use high-tack tapes to secure anything on your frame, it may damage the paintwork when removed. Use things like masking or electrical tape.

DON'T...modify the box delivered to you by the courier. Any modifications will mean that the courier may refuse to collect your bike, and will incur additional charges that your insurer may refuse to cover.

THE BOX

The box that we will send to you will measure approximately 146 x 25 x 90 cm.

DO NOT MODIFY THE BOX

Increases in the box dimensions will exceed the maximum dimensions allowable by our courier,

and result in your bike being held at the depot.

Got a reason why you can't fit your bike in the box?

If you have a mechanical reason that is stopping you from fitting your bike into the box - such as your seat post is seized - please let us know before collection so that we can make the courier aware of any unusual circumstances.
